here be kitty makeouts

We are constantly catching the cats mid-makeout-session. Metro and Dune are big into kissing, and perhaps some light S&M?

I have little to no idea how to use iMovie. Why did it turn out so dark? Hey, at least I figured out how to add music (Sunshine and Clouds (And Everything Proud) by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah).

found poem

A few years ago, I worked for a Linguistics prof extracting certain phrases from recorded interviews so we could analyze a West Indian English dialect. These phrases were in an Excel spreadsheet in this order and I was listening to live poetry quite often at the time, so I immediately thought of converting it to verse:
I have no regret living in such a world
a world which didn't have the amenities
but yet we were not rigid

we were not dead to the things
because we didn't have that much
which is not so peaceful

we goes through it, not being a part of it
we are not a part of the world
but it never alter our dependency.
IT'S SO DEEP!! Ha!

I need to make more friends. Tell me, how does one do this without church? I need girls who don't obsess about their hair and/or shoes, people who are literate, intelligent, sarcastic, and live downtown. I'm getting sick of going to events where I just spectate—they're fun events, great Toronto stuff, but I'm not getting to know anyone new, I'm just going with the people I know already and that's not helping. Church was an instant network, a hundred times better than school, and now I have neither. I thought of joining a Stitch 'n Bitch, but I'm not crocheting anymore because my hands hurt. So that's out. Work is okay, but it's always hard to make work-friends into real-friends. What is the secret??? Is Toronto just a horribly cold place? I'm getting to know my neighbours, but they're moving to Israel in a few months. $%#@!!

getting my house in order

Money Trackin': My newest online tool. Budgeting is ever so much easier with tagging enabled. I went to the store for milk today, and came home and entered that purchase into Money Trackin', tagging it with "groceries". Now I can click on the "groceries" tab and see how much I've spent thus far this month and how much is left in my budget for that. Very nice.

In an effort to declutter, I'm selling a lot of my yarn collection on Craigslist. I haven't crocheted for almost a year now, and my RSI is under control but not gone, mostly because I use my laptop trackpad way too often and a mouse would be much more hand-friendly. Sadly, the mouse/typing muscles are the same as the crocheting muscles, so I won't be using any of that yarn any time soon.

I've also been giving away books on BookMooch. I've given away two books (one mailed to Switzerland, one hand-delivered to a woman who lives 5 minutes away) and received one in the mail. Free books! And happy decluttering!

Next on the organizational list will be getting off my ass and joining the Good Food Box program, something I've been meaning to do since... oh, two apartments ago.

I don't know if all these urges to organize and simplify are because I'm living with Mr. Christopher "Vacuums for Fun" Hylarides, or because I overdosed on Apartment Therapy this year.
