oh, to have the endurance I had at age 10
This is how out-of-shape I am:
I can only jump rope for a minute and a half before needing to stop for a drink of water.
Every once in a while I will try to do things that I did all the time when I was little, and it's so much harder now! I biked back and forth to work a few summers ago, and it took at least a month before I could make it up the hill to get back home without getting off my bike and walking. I tried to climb a tree a while ago and it was nigh impossible. I was constantly climbing trees in my childhood summers, and my arms can't even lift me anymore! And now I suck at skipping.
We'll just have to take this a minute and a half at a time then.

Girls are pretty. Boys play sports.
My deodorant: Smells like flowers, advertising emphasizes it's moisturizing properties
Chris's deodorant: Smells like boy-deodorant, sponsored by the NHL and the NBA

learning girl-speak
Dad: Yeah, I totally know how that feels, and you're obviously disappointed by it.
Me: Hey! You're learning!!
Dad: What?
Me: You just validated my emotions!
Dad: Hey! I did! I'm getting it!!!
My dad is cute. :)

assortment
Kurt Vonnegut is one of my favourite authors. He is up in heaven now.
"The Last Rites of the Bokononism [ 99 ]Kurt's last rites express part of my views on death fairly well. He came from a lineage of freethinkers (now humanists). Rather than "having no hope" in the face of death, we feel stunned at being able to get up and look around at all. Lucky, lucky mud.
(Each line is said once by the person giving the rites and then repeated by the dying person.)
God made mud.
God got lonesome.
So God said to some of the mud, "Sit up!"
"See all I've made," said God, "the hills, the sea, the sky, the stars."
And I was some of the mud that got to sit up and look around.
Lucky me, lucky mud.
I, mud, sat up and saw what a nice job God had done.
Nice going, God.
Nobody but you could have done it, God! I certainly couldn't have.
I feel very unimportant compared to You.
The only way I can feel the least bit important is to think of all the mud that didn't even get to sit up and look around.
I got so much, and most mud got so little.
Thank you for the honor!
Now mud lies down again and goes to sleep.
What memories for mud to have!
What interesting other kinds of sitting-up mud I met!
I loved everything I saw!
Good night.
I will go to heaven now.
I can hardly wait...
To find out for certain what my wampeter was...
And who was in my karass...
And all the good things our karass did for you.
Amen."

- Kurt on CBC's The Current (Part 3): My favourite part is the ending, where Kurt tells Anna Maria Tremonti to "go jump in a lake."

Chris and I went to see 'The Danish Poet' at the Mediathèque a little while ago. If you can see it, you should. It's a short film; cuteness mixed with a dash of existentialism.

Spring came. Then it left again. Now it is drizzly and cold. Time for May, I think.

happy zombie jesus day
Matthew 27:50-53:
And Jesus cried again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit. And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom; and the earth shook, and the rocks were split; the tombs also were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many, crying out, "BRAINNNNNSSSSSS!!!!! BRRRRRAAAAAIIINNNNNNNNSSSSSSS!!!," striking terror into the hearts of many. And lo, Jesus appeared also, his arms stretched out before him, and he partook in the brains of many bunnies and then hid eggs all over the place. And the few people left alive rejoiced, for there was chocolate.(Paraphrase in italics.)
