had a bit of rain today

rain & screen window

It was raining furiously this afternoon, and we even had hail. Incredible. Today I discovered the "digital macro" setting on my camera, which actually allows me to focus on things close-up! How have I managed to have this camera for over a year and to be so frustrated by the lack of this feature (or so I thought) and not found it?! I am a silly girl sometimes.

That last photo is of a mezuzah, a Jewish scroll on the our front doorway. My landlord is a rabbi, and he does his best to protect us, perhaps from the Angel of Death? I am not entirely clear on how this works. I am also not sure whether it is supposed to work for goyim like myself, but here's hoping.

Have I mentioned that I have a job that requires me to eavesdrop on lesbians? I do. This is why you should all go into linguistics, for it affords such interesting opportunites as this! Linguistics is sexier than you ever imagined!

Beautiful photos Hannie! I love playing with my camera and it makes me want to start doing freelance photography.

But for now, I will just enjoy the beauty of it all.
