I gotta be honest, i'm not very smart and... i don't really get the joke. I mean I get the bum=buns, however i'm guessing that this is a joke thats funny on many levels, and i only see the humour on the bottom level
Oh goodness. I've been mulling over this little gem all week, struggling to find the humor. "It's just a line from a story some author made up," I told myself. "Isn't it normal to include weird things?" Until, of course, I actually read the article, and quite naturally found myself laughing at the good doctor's attempt to put things in layman terms.
I must note, though, that it was only my second favorite line from the article. My favorite was this scholarly little piece.
"The research, published Wednesday in the journal Nature, suggests that Bruce Springsteen may have been right all along — humans really were born to run."

No, you got it, Doug. It's just not everyday that you see Dr. So-and-so quoted saying something so... five-year-old-ish. Just made me laugh. :)
